BIO
Yannis Kolesidis was born in Athens in 1973. He graduated from the School of Study and Practice of Photography (EMEF) in Athens. He has been working as a photojournalist since 1994. Until 1997, he worked for a photo agency in Athens, covering domestic and international news and feature stories, and traveling as a correspondent throughout Greece and abroad.
From 1997 till 2004 he worked for the Greek daily newspaper ETHNOS covering major news stories in Greece and abroad.
From 2004 till now he has exclusive cooperation with REUTERS. He covered the Athens Olympics and Paralympic Games. His photographs have been published in international and Greek daily newspapers and monthly lifestyle magazines.
He has won several awards including 2nd prize singles in the World Press Photo 2009, Award of Excellence in Newspaper/Division Portrait at the Picture of the Year International (POY) 2004 contest and the 1st National prize in the feature category at FUJI Film Euro Press Photo Awards’ 1999 competition.
For the past year he has been traveling with MSF (Medecins Sans Frontieres) in Africa and Asia and now he is preparing a large exhibition with this material in Athens.
